Location
The 20th Century Technology Museum is in Wharton, Texas, at 231 South Fulton Street. It is on the ground floor of the former county jailhouse built in 1888, one block from the county courthouse, on the banks of the Colorado River. Both the museum building and the Wharton County Courthouse (also built in 1888) were designed by Eugene Heiner. The courthouse was greatly modified from its original Second Empire style to an Art Deco statement in the 1930s. A complete restoration of the courthouse to its original, 19th century appearance was completed in 2007.
Wharton is about 60 miles (100 km) southwest of Houston and 45 miles (75 km) from the Gulf Coast of Texas. See maps below.
